One ocean - one love: Surfing Orcas

Every once in a while amidst stories of rape, famine, war, economic crises, and the general malaise that is spewed forth from your local news network, there are positive stories to help remind you that life isn’t all about bad news.

This is one of those cases where I saw something that motivated me to smile from ear to ear. Recently orca whales have been spotted in New Zealand doing something other species have loved for a long time. Joining the ranks of humans, sea gulls, pelicans and humans, orcas have been spotted taking to the waves and having themselves a good old surf.

For years it had been documented that dolphins surf waves for fun. There is no other purpose for them to do what they do except entertainment and they have a great time at that. Now Orcas are joining in the lineup.

So what does this have to do with anything? Well quite simply that no matter who you are or what you do for a living, life should be enjoyed and it’s up to you to enjoy it.

Cheers
